Window Performance Labels

When it comes to buying energy efficient windows, a performance label can be the equilizer. At Thebco, we test our Restorations replacement windows to know the real performance stats, so we can offer you options that exceed industry standards. It’s important to know these standards, so we’ve put in some time to help clarify what the standard performance factors means and how they might figure into comparing different windows.

You may have seen the standard National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) sticker on a sash, but do you know what the numbers and ratings mean? The stickers are issued by the NFRC, a non-profit organization which sponsors an energy efficiency certification and labeling program for windows, doors, and skylights.

Products are independently tested, certified and labeled, so you can be confident they will perform the way they are advertised. And as you will see, the ENERGY STAR program uses U-Factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient and Air Leakage to qualify products for certification.

Take a look at this infographic that breaks down the different ratings so you understand what you’re buying and can make the best decision for your home.
